RUGMAKING ACCORDING TO "THE PRACTICAL JUNIOR TEACHER" (1944)
Sarah Hartwell, 2018

"The Practical Junior Teacher - A Guide to the Most Modern Methods of Teaching Children in the Junior Schools" was published by Pitman in 1944. It covered topics from PE to crafts. One of the topics was rug-making and included applique, tufted rugs, stitched rugs and other methods. Although I didn't do rug-wortk at junior school, both boys and girls were taught applique, basic needlework and crochet.
