"Lee Target" and "Target Wools" were trading names names of George Lee & Sons Ltd, Wakefield Yorkshire. They were well known manufacturers of knitting yarn, and became part of the Lister Group of Bradford in the 1960s. They produced this rug pattern catalogue in the 1950s, the heyday of home latch-hooking, but are much better known for knitting patterns. Rather than produce a whole rug design, their rug book showed a number of motifs (which could equally well be used in knitting, tapestry etc) which could be positioned on a rug as desired and repeated, rotated or reverse.
