Scotia Wools Ltd was founded by Joseph (Joe) Dixon (1865-1956) and his wife Jane (1866-1950). They originally sold rug wool from their kitchen and business thrived, first in partnership as the "Border Wool Company" and later as "Scotia Wools Co." "Scotia" referred to Scottish wool, not to Nova Scotia.
