RUG-MAKING HISTORY - BANTAM (EGG-WHISK RUG PUNCH)
Sarah Hartwell, 2022

This is a miscellaneous item related to latch-hooking – printer’s proofs for the Aspinall Panda Rug Boon No 7 (1950s) plus 2 of the printer’s plates (red and blue plates). To make the colour pages there are 3 colour plates plus a grey plate. The photos show the individual colours plus the way the plates are overlaid to create the full colour pages. Finally, the Panda logos and text (rug names) are added. I only have 2 of the plates associated with these proofs. Everything had to align perfectly at each stage of the printing process! Modern computerised printers can give colour pages in a single pass.
