BLUE-EYED BREEDS - GENETTA AND BENGAL (UNKNOWN GENE)
DBE GENETTA (UNKNOWN GENE)
The Genetta is a short-legged breed with marbled or spotted fur, bred to resemble the spotted African Genet. It was mainly developed using Bengals, Savannahs and Munchkins. Standard Genettas are short-legged, non-standard Genettas are long-legged. David Karamatic, in Australia, has bred DBE Genettas. This is non-standard Genetta (without white markings; the whisker colour is normal for tabby cats) from a Bengal father and an odd-eyed standard Genetta mother with white chin, throat and socks.
DBE BENGAL
DBE versions of the tawny-coloured Bengal exist although I have no further information as at my latest updates in July 2024. I believe the gene was introduced from one of the Russian DBE cats. It is not to be confused with the snow Bengal which has blue eyes due to the colourpoint gene.
