NEW EXPERIMENTAL "FLORA POIL" BREED RECOGNISED
The Flora Poil (Flower Fur) developed from Egyptian Hairless cats has been accepted as an experimental breed by The International Felinological Society (TIFS).
Described as "a hairless cat with fluff-tail and short fur on the muzzle and ears," it was developed over a period of 7 years using Egyptian Hairless cats and Scandi Longhairs. Its breeder, Olaf Orlip, originator of the Scandi Longhair, wanted to create a sturdy hairless cat, quite different from the lithe conformation of existing hairless breeds. In doing so, he bred several cats with short sleek fur on the muzzle and ears and a "fox’s brush" of a tail. Some also have tufted toes. He realised these cats had a unique appearance and appeal and decided to work with them.
Flora Poils are sturdily built, like "beer kegs on legs" and may be solid, tabby or tortoiseshell without any white markings.
